Dr. Weiss Completed his undergraduate training at The Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He attended Georgetown University for medical school and completed his residency training at The University of Michigan. He then completed a 1 year fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at Harborview Hospital in Seattle, Washington. After finishing his Orthopaedic Trauma fellowship in 2005, Dr. Weiss spent the next 5 years as the Medical Director for Orthopaedic Trauma at St Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. Since June 2010 he has directed the Orthopaedic Trauma Division at University of Virginia and has enjoyed the challenge of providing complex fracture care to a wide spectrum of injured patients and working closely with the other trauma services at the hospital. He has had a lifelong interest in teaching and education and is able to fulfill this by interacting daily with residents and medical students. He has received several teaching awards and was recently named among 19 of the best orthopedic trauma surgeons in North America. He is a faculty member of Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS) and AO North America chairing and teaching at several national and international instruction courses. He has been named a “Best Doctor in America” for the last 5 years.
